DWPR limited was founded in 2011 by David Winterburn, a dedicated specialist of UK radio.
David Winterburn got his first break in music in 2003 with Warner Music UK. Stints in Atlantic Press, International, and Business Affairs led to the building of strong relationships within the Warner Music structure. In 2005, the MD of Warner Brothers Records (Korda Marshall), and the Promotions Directors (Sarah Adams, Pete Black) took a punt and appointed David as their Regional Radio Promotions Manager. A fast learning curve was required for a person who’d never been plugging before, but David threw himself into the role and found he loved it.
Looking after the entire Warner Brothers Roster, David worked with artists including Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Daniel Powter, Muse, The Streets, My Chemical Romance, Gnarls Barkley, Ash, The Young Knives, New Order, Craig David, Kano amongst many others. David helped break many massive records including, Gnarls Barkley – Crazy, Daniel Powter – Bad Day, Madonna – Hung Up, and Muse – Starlight.
After three years in regional radio, including a nomination for Plugger of The Year, David was promoted to National Radio Promotions Manager. David oversaw many of the biggest campaigns on the label working with artists including Michael Buble, R.E.M., Foals, Devendra Banhart, Seasick Steve, Ben Folds, Stevie Nicks, Iyaz, Jason Derulo, Chris Isaak, Taking Back Sunday amongst others.
David personally looked after the Michael Buble – ‘Crazy Love’ album campaign that saw Michael become the #1 Most played Male Solo Artist of 2010 (Nielsen).
In 2011 David left to work in the independent sector, setting up DWPR and quickly set about finding the right artists to launch the company. The ethos of the company being instantly reflected by working with artists as diverse as Devendra Banhart, Passenger, Rokia Traoré, and Conor Oberst. The company is continually growing and going from strength to strength. For more information on David please see our testimonial page…
